Written in 1936 by Nat Simon and Buddy Bernier and based on a traditional Cuban folk song, "Cancion Del Arbol" (Song of the Tree). The Poincianna tree has flamboyant red flowers and is considered one of the most beautiful of flowering trees. Martin’s haunting arrangement creates an illusion of a sultry evening breeze heavy with the tree’s fragrance. Listen for the subtle nod to “Green Dolphin Street.”
